I just heard about this and thought it was loads of fun!
The rules:
1. Pick up the nearest book (at least 123 pages).
2. Turn to page 123.
3. Find the 5th sentence.
4. Post the 5th sentence on your blog.
5. Tag 5 people.
Here's mine: "It's just a zoo, Henry."
Well, sadly, the book I picked up was Jurassic Park, and we all know that Henry was one of the first to go. Apparently Hammond was wrong -- it was more than just a zoo, wasn't it?
Please let me know what you've got!
Natalie :)

"Instead it was a tall white tower surrounded by an inner ring of smaller, thatch-roofed dwellings and an outer skirt of stone shedds and outbuildings that faced them across a circular paved yard."
Hmm... who recommended this book to me? Oh yeah! It was Natalie *wink* *wink*
"But when the shadows of night closed them in, they gradually ceased to talk, and sat gazing into the fire, with their minds evidently wandering elsewhere."
--The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
And now I have to tell Joel, it was actually Kevin who recommended that book -- but I read it and liked it, too!
-- The Hidden Queen
Grandpa S: "When he finished his story, he told them that the women did not trust them and did not want to see them."
--Two Old Women, by Velma Wallis
"And now I, Jacob, spake many more things unto the people of Nephi, warning them against fornication and lasciviousness, and every kind of sin, telling them the awful consequences of them."
Don't any of you DARE to ask me which book this comes from!
Hey, it was the only one within reach!!
"MacAllister will pay for defense in Hellfire trial"
Odyssey, by Jack McDevitt
Lame, page 123 was at the end of a chapter with news headlines... ;)
"Her dress is well chosen, too, for in a week she weds Count Antonio, whom she passionately hates."
-from The Pickwick Portfolio.
Yep, I picked up Little Women! (confession: this is the fifth sentence only if you count the partial sentence at the top of the page. But the fifth full sentence was awful! -"By my faith, I envy him." ugh.)
Yay for humans! Boo for the fish!
--"Cabin Pressure: One Man's Desperate Attempt to Recapture His Youth as a Camp Counselor" by Josh Wolk
Second book available:
If I don't like it, I no longer assume it's my fault.
--"Common Nonsense" by Andy Rooney
Good times. Love, Karen
