The other night I dreamed a really fun dream. It was "shot" in soap-opera style, so there were close-ups & things, but I was really the main character, too (don't worry, it all made sense in the dream).
So, I was the First Grade Secretary at Westside Elementary (they don't have any position like that), and Parker and Stewart were in school there. I had to have a job because my husband had died. I'm not sure how long before -- maybe a few years? I wasn't really sad about it, it was just part of the dream backstory. Anyway, while I was doing some First-Grade-Secretary errands, in walked the handyman -- he was SO handy, and SUCH a cutie! (Of course, it was Joel.) We got to talking, and soon I found out that he was single and had two kids, too -- Paige and Kimball. I met them and fell in love with Joel and his two kids, almost as if it were fate! We were about to get married when I woke up... at 2:00 a.m.
So I started thinking. That's always my problem when I have insomnia. I start thinking about things, and then I'm all wound up and can't sleep. Well, I started thinking about my dream and how it really was like a soap opera, and how it really wasn't like a soap opera, and then I started thinking about the people in soap operas (by the way, I think I've seen maybe two full episodes of a soap opera? And one of those was a fake soap opera on Psych...). And you know what I came up with? I realized that the people on soap operas are really great at grasping life by the horns. When they want something, they really go for it! Even if it's really wrong for them, and won't make them happy, they really commit themselves to pursuing a course, and come what may. I love that about them! It is so, so great to really LIVE your LIFE! And I thought of a really great blog title -- Live Life Like You're in a Soap Opera. I almost went downstairs and started typing right then, but got a little sleepy. So I went back to sleep.
And woke up to reality. Yeah, that's actually not a great idea, to pursue a course that won't make you happy. Or that's wrong. So, don't actually live life like you're in a soap opera. You'll probably end up completely unhappy. You may even end up dead... or it actually might be your twin who's dead and you turn up in the middle of a great life and just fool everyone until they decide you're not your twin and then you're in big, fat, ugly trouble.
Also, don't compose blog posts at 2:00 in the morning.

My life is somewhat like a soap opera. I have an evil twin who stares at me through the mist on the mirror in the morning. Auggh! What a monster! But then we get him under control and looking like a real grandpa and all is well.
I certainly get your idea of living life to the fullest; thanks for the reminder!
It's amazing how interesting and clear things seem at two in the morning... and then the next day you're thinking, wait...
It's funny how you have this dream just as many soap operas are being canceled. Oh well, I'm glad it was just a dream.
