A Conversation

Me: Parker, why is this pudding box out?

Parker: I was using it.

Me: Where is the pudding?

Parker: It's in the pantry.

Me: Okay, that's a good place for it. What were you using the box for?

Parker: I needed it for my pet.

Me (looking inside, I see there's nothing inside the box.): Was your pet a pill bug? (Parker REALLY wants a pet, and for some reason he thinks a pill bug would be a great pet...)

Parker: No, it was two pill bugs.

Me: Where are the pill bugs now?

Parker: They're in the garbage.

Me: Why are they in the garbage?

Parker: They were dead, so I put them in the garbage.

Me: How did you know they were dead?

Parker: They weren't moving any more.

Me: Do you think they might have been just sleeping? Sometimes you don't move very much when you're asleep.

Parker: ... maybe ...

So, Parker and I had a chat about how sometimes they sleep and look dead, but with bugs it's hard to tell, and that they'll definitely be dead soon because there's no pill bug food in the garbage, and once we put them in the black garbage they'll fry. And then we talked about wild animals and how they don't belong in the house and how they're a lot better off in the wild and how bugs are wild animals, too. I'm such a mom!!!

Did you ever in your wildest dreams think you'd be discussing pill bugs, pudding, and garbage all in the same conversation? Gotta love the little ones!

Hehe, I use to put pill bugs in jars with grass. How funny.
