Placebos, Karate, and other stuff

Joel's been out of town this week, and here are a few of the things we did while he was gone... I bought enough stuff for projects that we are well-supplied with enough to do projects for the next SEVERAL weekends -- not to mention the fact that I had two movies and four shows and three books to read. Plus my story that I'm working on. I think I was ridiculously over-prepared? Stewart woke up on Tuesday night at 11:30 with leg pain (I think it might be growing pains? I've never had them...). To go along with the pain in his finger from an infected cuticle. Unfortunately, we left all our medication at my mom's house when we were there for New Year's Eve (and her birthday), so we have no painkiller in the house. So, what's a Mom to do? Yep, I totally gave him a placebo -- in this case, half of one of Joel's glucose pills. Luckily, they're really just sugar, which he doesn't really need, but won't kill him. He said it was gross -- but just a little gross. The next night, Paige woke up at 12:00 and came out about every 10 minutes until 1:00. I am SOOO tired! Parker came home with a "free" karate class -- which is better known as free advertising -- where we basically donate $20 to the school (100% return to the school, which is cool) so he can go to karate twice a week for three weeks. He was SOOO excited that I think we're going to do it. I am FINALLY going to replace our stroller. We had one of those big, luxe strollers that everyone has, and I accidentally ran over one of the wheels. And, since we got it in 2002 when Parker was born, they no longer manufacture any replacement parts (although I think if I took a gamble on it I could totally find one that works). So, I contacted a couple of neighbors whose kids are growing up and begged to take theirs off their hands -- and one of them said yes! :) And Paige has been my "mama" this week. The first and second nights, I didn't sleep so well, so I took a little snooze one day while Kimball was napping, and Paige tucked me in (on the couch, right next to her -- I'm not completely negligent!) and gave me a couple of sweet kisses on the cheek and forehead. Last, but not least, we had a little surprise for Joel when he came home... Can you tell what Paige did that was very, very brave?

Wow, she's 10 years younger than I was when I got my ears pierced! Glad you got a new stroller.

Open letter to Joel: Your wife did none of these things and spent the whole time with my wife watching old episodes of the Gilmore Girls and eating bon-bons.

Think I'm kidding? Well . . . yeah. I don't want Parker to beat me up with his new martial arts.

It's so nice to have a daughter to "mother" you--way to go Paige! All moms need mothering now and then. Glad Joel is back. And, thanks for the visit!

LOL, yes Dad, beware the Parker :-D.

I think Paige looks great! She was certainly proud of her earwings (spelling intentional to how Paige said it)
