Super Mario Bros.

My kids love, love, LOVE Super Mario Bros. for the Wii. In fact, in a recent Second Grade survey, Parker said it's favorite song! (I just thought I'd mention here that he sings songs from Super Mario Bros. ALL THE TIME. Yes, it is absolutely his favorite. No, it is not mine!) So, when I asked them what they wanted to be for Halloween, they said they wanted to be... you guessed it. Well, here they are in all their glory:

Mario & Luigi

Princess Peach's preschool class

Mini Mario

(a.k.a. Baby Mario)

FYI, Parker & Stewart's costumes were super easy -- just throw together & go, really. We bought almost everything, although they ended up having red & green shirts that worked great from T-ball and last year's new school clothes. Paige's dress is the same pattern as her Snow White dress from last year, but revamped a little and adding a peplum (yes, that's the technical term for those floppy things on the sides) -- it went a lot faster this year. But Kimball's is completely pattern-free -- mostly due to a tutorial from Dana via MADE for some knee pad pants that is just plain great, as well as a newsboy cap that was also featured on MADE. I'm so glad the kids had this idea, and that nobody thought it was lame to dress in theme. I love the way they turned out this year!

For our actual Halloween day, we went to Trevor & Abby's Primary Program, then to Nick & Audrey's house for some lunch. I made these little ties:
and this little hairpin:
in a little under two hours for ALL OF IT -- I absolutely LOVE a quick project! And I think the kids turned out darling. And Joel and I? We didn't really dress up, but we sure had fun, too!

I had no idea your kids were mario brothers for halloween this year!! I just had the idea a week or two ago that next year Scott can be Luigi and baby Fiebs can be Mario/Princess Peach, depending on gender of course. I don't know if we'll be able to live up to the standard set here though!
