So, last year I started doing fudge for our Christmas neighbor gift. It got a little out of control, so this year I started early -- the very first Monday of December. We got a few houses done that night, but I made FOUR batches (that's sixteen POUNDS) of fudge, so we had little time to waste, because I wanted everyone to have it fresh.
Unfortunately, we got all burned out from delivering fudge after batch number three. So most of batch number four is on my counter, waiting to be thrown away because it's two weeks old and hard as a rock. And yet, tonight I was tempted to get out my heavy saucepan and make another batch, when Stewart said, "Mama, let's go fudgin'!"
What sweet kids we have. They only got one or two pieces of the fudge we delivered. They are really giving, and I love that about them. I love it enough to make at least one more batch of fudge!
And, note to self: next year, don't do plastic wrap over paper plates (making that look cute was half the battle). Invest in some cheap containers with lids -- simplicity at Christmastime makes for a happy Mama!

And as she left gifts from door to door, she swore a mighty oath:
"Ah, fudge."
