Re-Organization

by Natalie

Well, I'm always talking about my great ideas for organization. Here's a quote I came across that I'm hoping will inspire me!

"This packrat has learned that what the next generation will value most is not what we owned, but the evidence of who we were and the tales of how we loved. In the end, it's the family stories that are worth the storage."
-Ellen Goodman, The Boston Globe

Isn't that the truth? THAT is what I want to do. I don't want my grandchildren to go through my house when I die and find GARBAGE, yuck! I want to keep OUR stories from being told by someone else, and I want to tell them in a fun way. Maybe I can count this effort as family history?

The Boston Globe, eh? I've come to notice that people who live in Boston have such AMAZING ideas... :)

Scrapbooks, pictures, journals, antiques (here's where you must be careful not to classify junk as 'antiques'), quilts, and stuff of that nature will definitely be worth rummaging through.

The question you have to ask yourself before you store something is "Am I really going to use this again?". If the answer is probably no, then get rid of it!

No, I'm not smart, I've just watched HGTV a lot ;-)

At a writing meeting one of my friends said, if you don't write things down then your grandchildren will never find that hidden box of love letters in the attic. I thought that was great. Love your blog. See you soon, Megan
