Oh, Brother
So, my little old Kenmore sewing machine (that was free to me in the first place!) up and died the other day. I think it's reparable, but for me to repair it would be about as much as it would be to get a BRAND SPANKIN' NEW machine! So, since I'm not sure it's worth fixing the old one, Joel got me this puppy:
It's a Brother XL 3750, and it has all the features this model comes with, plus all the feet you'd ever want, and an extension board for quilting. I've got plenty planned for quilting, but I'll post about that a little later. This is the FIRST thing I've done:
I really don't like sharing towels. Somehow, the thought of having someone else's dead skin cells on me is gross -- but maybe that's just me? :) Anyway, it was bugging me that we couldn't ever keep the kids' towels straight, either, and they were pretty excited about having their OWN. Especially Parker & Stewart with the fireworks fabric (the blue -- click on the pic to enlarge if you can't see). Someday we'll need to replace our towels, but since they're still in great condition, I just used the ones we had. And scrap fabric. And thread I already had. So, the price for this little project? Without buying a new sewing machine, of course, it was FREE-99!!!

What a great idea to do monogrammed towels! I'm glad you got a new sewing machine, most electronics these days cost as much or more to fix than just buying a new one.
I'm a fan of personalized towels myself... very cool!
I remember what the people of Santo Poco said when the Three Amigos asked what they could really do well. They said "We can sew." Way to go, you little Santo Pocan (?). Nice sparklies!
Congrats on the new addition. And I agree about the sharing towels; we've never done that, always had our own. But I love your creativity, as always!
yay a new sewing machine! I am jealous. You sure are creative and fun -way to go
