Help... PLEASE help!

So, I had the greatest idea last year, right about November. The idea was to have a quilt block exchange, and everyone would do a block or two or three for someone's quilt, and we'd all have some really cool quilts when we were done. Good idea, right? Well, I have had just about the hardest time EVER figuring out what pattern to use. There are a lot of quilts I'd like to try, but for a quilt exchange? That's where it gets tricky. I finally decided on this six-pointed star (the top quilt): (I totally copied this picture from a blog, and can't remember where I got it, but it might have been Posie Gets Cozy?) Isn't it darling? I LOVE the stripes so, so much! And I can figure out that part of the pattern -- the problem is, I can't find a basic pattern for a six-pointed star quilt anywhere. There are plenty of eight-pointed stars, mostly with diamond-shaped pieces, but nothing with six points. SOOO... does anyone out there know what I'm talking about? I am about to give it a good try without any instructions, but to be completely frank, those angles give me the willies. If you know something I don't, please don't hesitate to share!

I have no ideas, but I would love to lie under it when it's done.

It looks like it could all be broken into trinagles....or you could use hexagons if you wanted. Hmmmm....I'll keep my eyes open.

Have you googled it? That's my only idea. Good luck! You're amazingly crafty.

Carrie, I think it IS triangles, but I think it will be three or four different sizes to make a hexagon, then a triangle in between. Why can't I remember any trig??

Mom, I did google it and found one almost-helpful article -- hence the plea for help. I think I'm just making this harder than it actually is.

I have zero talent for crafts but that quilt sure looks comfortable.

I have a six sided star pattern that I'll get to you...Craig has to reinstall our scanner software. It's not exactly what you want, but it might help.--uses a hexagon in the middle.

I've seen people create this pattern by using equalateral triangles and putting them together. Super easy but a little trickier with stripes! Go for it!
