Unexpected Compliment

On Sunday I taught another Relief Society lesson, and it went pretty well (except for the fight that broke out between a Sister and I -- just kidding! It was more of a disagreement -- I said that "other animals" were created on the sixth day, and she insisted they were created the same day as the fish, fowl, & creeping things. Look it up if you want to know the real answer, but first know this -- I was preparing a lesson on the creation, and you can bet I didn't just throw that out there without researching it! That being said, I only looked it up in Genesis, and there may be another version in another book of scripture [Moses?] that I didn't see.). I put up a graph of what happened physically & spiritually in Eden and after the Fall, and wrote on the board. Let me just tell you right now that I am not the greatest at writing on a chalkboard. I absolutely can't stand that yucky too-dry feeling of chalk on my hands, and the chalk I had Sunday was super squeaky. Anyway, we went next to Sunday School, because we have the backwards church schedule, and I sat next to Sister Cowgill, an older lady who is fun and kind of unusual. She leaned over and said, "I'm so glad you sat next to me. I thought there was something funny with your lesson, but I didn't know who to tell. I guess it's best that I tell you, since you were the one giving it." I was totally intrigued, and a little nervous it was something about the creation thing again, but she seemed like it wasn't going to be a mean thing to say, so I asked, "Oh, really? What is it?" Sister Cowgill smiled and said, "I studied handwriting analysis for a while, and you know when you wrote the word 'tested'? Well, it went straight down, as though you didn't like that word very well. And when you wrote 'children', the letter 'n' had a big smiley face at the end. In fact, it was the biggest smiley letter on the whole board. I guess that means you really like your children." Wow! I have to say, they drive me crazy sometimes, but I really do love my children a lot. I work really hard for them most of the time, and I've heard that you love the ones you serve (isn't that in the Bible somewhere?), so I must love them a whole bunch! We had a better day today than yesterday, and sometimes that's all I need to feel a little better about being a Mama to these kiddos. My mom always says that this time of life is precious, and it really, really is. They are my sunshine!

Your ward sounds like everybody else's with lots of know-it-alls. Nice when you actually get a compliment, isn't it?

I agree you're a fabulous mama! You certainly do have your hands full, but you do it all so well. Consider yourself complimented again!

You ARE a great mom! It was nice of that sister to give you a compliment like that (who really cares when "other animals" were created, come on!).
