Don't get me wrong, I totally believe in paying taxes and helping our country pay its workers. I know it's the right thing to do, and it's the law. But paying taxes makes me cranky. There's inevitably something that goes wrong, or some form we have to try and find, or TurboTax Online (which, incidentally, is a program we REALLY like because it takes a lot of the questions out of filing a tax return) asks us to look at another year's record, to which we don't have quick access. (Side note: Yes, we have retained an electronic copy of our taxes. No, we have not printed them off. This is a problem we're realizing is maybe not a good one.) And then, there's the funny little problem that comes up when I try to enter my piano lessons, for which I'm not required to get a taxpayer ID number (because it's a service-based business, and my name is also my business's name), and we can never remember which category we've entered it into previously. So, we always end up a little peeved at our return, which has been dwindling in recent years, and at each other, because it's money and couples always fight over money.
Thank goodness we keep getting returns. And thank goodness it's over until this time next year!

Grandpa said: I once had a poster with "100 Murphy's Laws." One of them was "Nobody's money is safe when the legislature is in session." At least taxes are after the fact.
