Lame duck happens

So... the first counselor came over about a week and a half ago and told me I (and the rest of the Primary Presidency) was being released and he doesn't have anything for me. Because our church was cancelled for the Oquirrh Mountain Temple dedication, I've had to keep this secret for so long! But, to be completely honest, I've been telling all my relatives and friends that live out of the ward boundary -- because I've just got to tell someone! In the week plus that followed, I realized that lame duck happens. For real. It's not a myth. I really felt the responsibility just melt away. Pinewood Derby problems? No problem -- it's really the cubmaster's deal anyway. Primary music leader moving? No problem -- I'm planning on subbing this week, but then they'll have to ask me if I'm available. The only problem is, I have NO idea what's in store. If I'm going to do the Primary music, that's just fine -- I'm just not in charge right now. If I'm in Cub Scouts , that's fine (at least I know that job!) -- it's just not my baby today. Nursery leader? Sure. Teaching young adults? Great -- I've never worked with that group before. And if I end up without a calling for a while, it's going to drive me crazy not KNOWING, but I have to admit I'm hoping to enjoy a week or two of Relief Society before anything exciting happens! UPDATE: I'm called to be a Relief Society teacher! I'm so ready for the company of women right now! I'm NOT really looking forward to the teaching part of it, but even that would be a ton of fun if I weren't so nervous about it. I had this calling a while ago and got fairly comfortable with it (which is probably why I got released) and had a lot of fun. Hurray!

One of my favorite callings, for sure (and my current one, as you know). I love reading and studying the words of the Living Prophets! You'll do great!

For at least the first week, just look at it like they're the older primary that you're teaching Sharing Time to. Bring cupcakes! Draw pictures! do a conga line! All will be well and enjoy the Childhood Memories.

I'm glad that you will be able to spend more time with your family and that you will get to teach in RS.

Hear, hear! Natalie is amazing! And you have all kinds of great experiences to share, and insights that you already share with me, so why not share with the great ladies in your ward? Indeed.
