A surprisingly fun Activity Days project we worked on in December/January was this:
A quilt for the hospital that had Kate last year. (She had low oxygen due to RSV, and is doing perfect now.) First, the girls traced letter templates onto steam-a-seam, ironed the fabric to the steam-a-seam, cut out the letters, and adhered it to the gray blocks. They LOVED ironing! In between, I zig-zagged the letters to the blocks for permanent adherence, and made a few letters myself. For the next activity, they laid out the fabrics (we took a picture so we could make sure we kept the quilt parts together right), marked 1/4" lines, and sewed the gray squares to the colored squares -- that's where I lost a couple of girls in the activity. Most of the girls LOVED sewing blocks together, and voted to do it for a third activity, but there were three or four that really couldn't have cared less about sewing two little pieces of junk together. But majority ruled and we did it again, and those girls were at least happy to have the treat that time. :)
For our last activity, we took the quilt down to the Payson, Utah Mountain View Hospital. They couldn't let us back to see any babies or anything, due to HIPPA laws, but the two ladies at the front desk were SO nice. They took pictures of the girls and answered questions, and as we were leaving they gave the girls some Tootsie Roll pops!

How do you come up with this stuff? That is one lovely quilt. Only in Church groups do kids get to do stuff like that.
Natalie it turned out so cute! You're amazing!
Now, that's a quilt! Good for you.
