As you first walk in, there is this HUGE couch:
So big I couldn't get it all in one shot!
On the other side, was this big stairway, and behind that was this FANTASTIC kitchen!!
This is where I hung out most of the weekend -- isn't this table HUGE?
And just behind the table:
The first day, we got settled in and set up our machines. I brought a BRAND, NEW project, so I got out my fabrics and laid them out. Here's a hint of what I worked on:
Can you guess what it might be? I can't show it off until a little later, because I haven't given it yet, but I'll update as soon as I do. :) I was at that REALLY long table, so there were tons of ladies at it -- just what I was hoping for! On one half of the table were all the Payson ladies -- Marion and Annette and Katie. They were super fun! Directly across from me was Lynette, who had just moved from Florida to Colorado. Next to her was Jennifer from California. And at the end was Tammy from Canada -- who probably had the most trouble coming! Emily started out right next to me, but I don't think she got a chance to do TOO much Thursday.
We had some yummy sandwiches for lunch - deli meats with veggie tray and Scotch-a-roos (yummy, yummy rice crispy treats made with a peanut butter chocolate topping - so good!). After a little sustenance, we had a trunk show by Amber Johnson, of the "A Little Bit Biased" blog Gigi's Thimble. She is totally on my pinterest quilting board! For those of you that might not know, a trunk show is where someone brings quilts they've made and talks about them. Sometimes they'll tell you about their inspiration, usually they'll tell you about themselves and what got them started quilting, and always they'll show AMAZING quilts! Like these:
I just couldn't choose which ones were my favorites - she had so many good ones! She ended up staying the whole time, and she was such a fun person! I think we could TOTALLY be friends. :)
After the trunk show, I got back to work - I finished cutting out my pieces and started sewing like crazy! Funny story: I had a water bottle next to my machine, and just took a drink whenever I had a break or felt thirsty, just like I do at home. But since there weren't ANY interruptions, I ended up drinking so much I had to go to the bathroom like CRAZY! I had to hold back a little the second day. :)
We had soups for dinner -- a white chicken chili and broccoli cheese that were both amazing, and a minestrone I'm sorry I didn't taste. After dinner it was back to the grindstone, and I started to get pretty tired -- amazing, since all I was doing was sewing! I finished sewing the individual blocks (9 individual blocks made up one of the 16 big blocks), and I called it a day.
We also had a make-and-take and a fat quarter game. We made a cute key chain fob, but I actually made mine the next day when I could
1) see the actual colors of the fabrics (I wasn't sure if it was gray or brown) to match the thread, and
2) had my walking foot on my machine.
But isn't it cute?! I was the last person to choose my fabrics, and I'm so glad everyone left this one for me!
I got a really pretty bunch of fat quarters:
Whatever shall I make...? The possibilities are endless!
Although I was finished sewing, I TOTALLY wasn't finished visiting! I met the most amazing lady, Terry, and her daughter Michelle. They were so much fun! We talked about just about everything under the sun, and it was so great to be able to JUST sit and talk. Love all those ladies I met Thursday!
Towards the end of the day, I found this cute little hideaway under the stairs. They had this really thick rug in front of some tiny, kid-sized couches, and a Wii console and TV underneath. It was so cute! I decided that might be my bedroom, and I slept so solid that night!
