My New Goal
I just read on a website that this is National Novel Writing Month -- and got inspired! The goal (for others) is to write a 50,000-word novel in the month of November. That's over 1600 words per day! I'm definitely not even going to try that for now. Instead, I'm going to combine my goal with Laini Taylor's idea: The Notebook in the Attic. I'm going to try to write -- every day but Sunday -- all month long in a notebook, and NOT open it up until I'm competely finished with the notebook -- and I'm hoping I can do that by the end of the month. I'm not going to write anything specific, just ideas that come to me, short stories, silly things, etc. I'm hoping that (like she promised) I'll be amazed at what I've written. Or, at least, that I'm not completely appalled at what I've written. I'm even going to pop out a fresh notebook... For some reason, writing in a new notebook always makes me feel RICH. Like there are so many pages just laying there WAITING for something great to be written!

Write, write, write! All those novels I wrote just each started out with an idea, like Lindsay Ford walking up a hill from her first day in high school and being picked up by some popular kids. All my books just sort of wrote themselves, each from one simple original idea. Give it a shot!
