Yes, we are still alive. Things have been a little cra-a-azy around here, and I'll get into that more in a minute, but thought I'd post and say that, yes, we are still alive.
July was a crazy month in a lot of ways - we had two family reunions, three birthdays, and four birthday parties - AUGH! It was so much fun, but no time to write. It also brought a big decision - Joel and I decided to list our house on the market, and see what happened. We knew we had some big projects to do, and we were shooting for September first, so most of our August was spent decluttering and getting crazy with the painting. In just a short while, we put about half of our stuff in storage, stripped and painted the kitchen cabinets, painted the great room, painted Stewart and Paige's room, touched up EVERYTHING (including baseboards), made new curtains, hung new curtain rods, installed some hardwood floors... the list just keeps going on!
Suffice it to say, we wore ourselves out getting things together, but it's a totally beautiful home!
*pictures taken with my phone Monday, September 17, just after we listed our house -- sorry in advance for some of the poor lighting*
(aren't the flowers FANTASTIC?!)

September brought only a few lookers, but we enjoyed the calm for a while -- and I enjoyed the clean house! October was a little slow at first, but then we had 5 potential homebuyers in one week! In fact, there were three right in a row that Saturday, so we left the house at 3:30, planning to go back at 6:00, and of course what is the worst thing that could happen at 3:35? Yep, you guessed it -- Kimball totally threw up. Some really nice neighbors rescued us with some clothes and plastic bags -- bless them. It was so strange, it must have been something he ate that didn't agree with him, because he was fine less than four hours later, and no one else got sick at all. So, the rest of the kids played at the park and he sat in the car with the windows down.
Two weeks ago, we got an offer we couldn't refuse -- and from the people who looked while Kimball was sick. :) I have such conflicting emotions! It's amazing to me that it no longer feels like "our" house. And yet, we have made so many memories here! We have really made it into a home we absolutely love. When we first moved in, Parker was 2 1/2 and Stewart was almost 1.
This picture was taken almost a year later -- and I can barely remember how little they were here!
But this week we were able to finally sign on a house in our same neighborhood -- literally, the only house available for us to buy; a house that wasn't even on the market. For a long time, it looked like the sale wasn't going to work, and we were at the point where we wondered what would become of our family. We had felt so good about selling our house -- but this was the only house that really felt right for us to buy. Would we be homeless for a few months? Four months ago, moving to a new house wasn't even on our radar, but since that time we had felt we should just try to sell our house, then to sell it at the time we did, then to offer on this other house. It was pretty clear to Joel and I that the Lord was guiding our family -- we just weren't sure what the plan was. In the end, our sale and moving into our new house is working like clockwork -- as only the Lord can plan.
We're moving out Thursday, November 29th -- and anyone who can come, we'd certainly love the help!

Faith is great after it works. When you're actually trying to use it, sometimes it's hectic. It will be fun to see your new home.
I wanna see pictures of the new house! Anyway, I'll be sure to take that day off to help you guys move (I can't lift a lot but I can distract kids)
yay! so glad you are not moving away!!
Thanks for the update! I'm with Marcie, maybe I can help with the kids, or at least bring food. We'll talk!
Congrats, congrats!!
As you know, we are ALL about following the Lord and His plan. You're always happier when doing so, yes? Yes.
But having said that, Brian is over here laughing that you moved within your same neighborhood. :) But when it's right, it's right, right?
Love it!
